A Pit Stop in Pittsburgh

The San Jose Sharks lost in the shoot out to the Pittsburgh penguins after Sidney Crosby scored the only goal in the shootout. This was a vital game because the Sharks had just come off a tremendous game in Boston and wanted to get the momentum swinging in their favor early. The Sharks played well for the most part but didn't convert in the Shootout. That is when you need your big guns like Joe Thornton, Dan Boyle and whoever else is put in to play their hardest and lock down and give their all. This didn't happen but Dan Boyle did have an amazing move but got sloppy after he beat Fleury and did lift the puck and Fleury had just enough time to get his right pad over. Brian Boucher was the Starting goaltender for the Sharks on Wednesday night because Evgeni Nabokov needed a break. I think we should give Nabby a wake up call and Bouchy should start a couple because he has earned the starts. He works had in practice, plays well in games and give 100% all the time. I am not saying that Nabby doesn't do this, we just need to get him back to his "A" game. I would not be surprised if Boucher was to start the next few games.

A Shark Stunner

The way the San Jose Sharks played Tuesday night, they looked like they had the Physical Ability, The Mental Toughness, and had Control of their emotions, they could take on any team right now and beat them by 2 goals. The way the Sharks played, everybody in that building in Boston thought that the Sharks could win the Stanley Cup. If we continue to play the way we are playing straight through the playoffs, we could even have a chance of back to back Stanley Cups if our roster doesn't differ that much. We got goals from our top producers like Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, and Rob Blake, which makes us an even bigger threat. The only way to describe the San Jose Sharks style of play is that the "lurk" in the neutral zone and pounce on any of your mistakes. The San Jose Sharks also buckled down on defense after the first period, I am guessing that Todd McLellan gave the team a wake up call in the locker room during the first intermission. Sharks goalie Evgeni Nabokov had a very positive reflection about the game, "The way I feel is, when you don't win, you obviously didn't do something you've got to do, and I think the last couple of games, I didn't make that one key save....and tonight, I made that key save"(Mercury News). Jamie McGinn also had something to say about the heated match up that he was in, even as a rookie, "I tried to make a positive impact on the ice, I tried to be in the right spot at the right time and I almost put the puck in the net. Ryan Clowe was awarded the 1st star honor with zero goals and 3 assists.

The Best Player

Nobody knows how hard it is to be the best player in the NHL except the best, in that case, Joe Thornton knows how hard it is to be the best player in the NHL. Joe has consistently worked hard and converted on many scoring opportunities in the past, as we approach the playoffs, the same question is going through everybody's head, will Big Joe produce the way he does in the regular season? Last year was a disappointment when Big Joe only played well in 2 or 3 games. The San Jose Sharks need their best players including Patrick MarleauEvgeni Nabokov, and Joe Thornton to play their best because without them, we would not have a chance of making it to the Stanley Cup. Everybody who is a Sharks fan is praying that the playoffs will not turn out to be another disappointment and they will go home after the second round. When I say this, I hope I am saying this for Everybody in San Jose, LETS GO BIG JOE!

#1 in the Bay

There has been a lot of controversy over who is the best sports team in the bay area, well now that we are in the 08-09 season, there shouldn't be any more confusion. The Warriors are doing terrible even though they have Montae Ellis back, the Giants are predicted to be out of a playoff spot next season even after signing Randy Johnson and the 49ers are still trying to figure out who the starting quarterback should be. The Sharks however, are #2 in the NHL behind the Boston Bruins who have played 4 more games than the sharks so far. We now know who truly is the "best in the west". I am certain that the Sharks will win the stanley cup. They have a younger roster but more experienced team than any other in the NHL and the best defense in the National Hockey League, after looking at all the stats, there shouldn't be any doubt that the sharks will at least make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs.
